A great time was had by all at Petersburgh Memorial for Michelle’s Sweet 16, except for one moment with me and a horsehead on a stick. 🙂
A few of them were a little dark, so they were touched up for ya’ll at about 3am.

Making a Puzzle Piece Guest Book Fit for Your Wedding
As a busy DJ in the Capital Region of Upstate NY, I often get to see some of the coolest ideas in wedding planning – especially guest books of late. As you know if you have been reading my column, I always love to share the coolest ideas with you!
Here is yet another fun guest book alternative for your wedding reception that you can piece together on your own with very little work. Rather than to put out one of those lame blank page wedding guest books for people to sign that you will never look at again, how about a wooden puzzle? A puzzle is hours of entertainment and your guests will all become part of that forever in this great keepsake.
This guest book is basically a bunch of wood pieces cut out into the shape of of a functioning puzzle. Each piece is then layed out on a table and then signed by your guests in colorful markers.
WANT TO KEEP THAT RING FINGER SAFE FOR THE WEDDING? – If you are not-so-handy with a jigsaw and hope to keep all of your fingers, this idea should be fairly achievable in plank wood puzzles are available. If not, you should be able to find something already pre-made, perhaps for coins at a craft store like Michaels, or Hobby Lobby in Latham.
DJ KENNY CASANOVA BRINGING THE FUN TO ALBANY & GLENS FALLS NY!
Our DJ Kenny Casanova has worn many hats. Sick of boring weddings? Want a fun DJ for your party? DJ Kenny Casanova has ties to comedy. Recently, our DJ Kenny opened up for WWE Legend Hacksaw Jim Duggan for his comedy club tour.
In addition to being one of the busiest wedding DJs in the Capital District providing music and entertainment to Saratoga, Glens Falls, Lake George & more… he has been a ring announcer for the WWE, he has authored books and he also dabbles in stand-up comedy.
Recently at Sweet Basil’s in Glens Falls, DJ Kenny Casanova kicked off a tour for his friend Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Locally, Kenny performed at The Comedy Works of Albany NY, Oneonta, Boston, and a number of other places. His act has weird impressions of Mupppets and Saturday morning cartoons, among and other nostalgic nonsense.
When Kenny isn’t offering his disc jockey services, you can bet he is busy. He has performed his comedy act now all around Upstate New York and New England.
If you saw it, you would love it! For more information on Hacksaw Jim Duggan, check out HacksawShow.com
How to effectively execute your Wedding Introduction and NAIL IT!
Because the first dance usually comes after the wedding introduction, it is usually best to go with a high-energy intro for your reception. Since your first dance is going to be slow and romantic, you should go with something quite the opposite of this. Here is a recent wedding intro we did that keeps things high energy and fun, so that the first dance will mean even more:
The reason for the opposite tone is to make people feel like the are experiencing something. Walt Disney didn’t just make kids laugh. He also made them sad and scared and evoked other emotions as well so that it really felt like they were experiencing something special in his movies.
Baptist tent ministries also follow this same model. They get their congregation to sing, and then cry during a heart-felt testimony, then tell a funny anecdote during the sermon for the very same reason. (Some would argue that when they do this correctly, this is how they can really find full offering plate at the end of a service!)
Normally, you don’t want any drama at your wedding, but not, of course, if you are planning a Broadway Theme wedding!
We just had the pleasure of DJing for a couple at Key Hall in Schenectady, NY, a great hall with some really classic old time surroundings that really enhanced the idea of theater.
The couple had play poster centerpieces, a Broadway cake topper and seating placecards that looked like tickets to some of their very favorite broadway plays that I really liked.
Just picture the possibilities. You can serve popcorn and make your food table decor look like a concession stand. You can play the theme songs or particular soundtrack tracks before your intro during cocktail hour.
You can sign Broadway play posters for the guestbooks. You can do anything!
BROADWAY PLAY THEME WEDDING PICTURES FROM SCHENECTADY NY
I particularly liked the ticket seating chart and the program playbill for the night. These really made you feel like you were looking for your seats right at a theater on Broadway in New York City.
