I am versatile. I have done a couple of country / rustic weddings over the last few weeks and had NO problem dropping the tech look to make it work. Rather than my regular sweet DJ booth, I went for the barrel look here at a fun wedding at Burlap and Beams of Athol, NY.
This venue had some great old barrels available and we took advantage of it and made it work! A rustic theme can really make your wedding a success.
BARN VENUES – There are a few great “barn” venues in the Albany, NY area to consider, if wanting this rustic feel. One as we said is Burlap & Beams. ANother is Pat’s Barn in Troy NY , and another is The Pruyn House in Latham, NY.
Here are a few pictures to give you some ideas.

If you are not familiar with uplights and you are planning a party, it is certainly something to consider.
WHAT ARE UPLIGHTS? Typically, uplights are used to bring some color to a drab wall, or to create a soft atmosphere in a classy setting. However, they can also be used to make your party more fun as a decoration.
MODERN LED UPLIGHTS – No longer do we use those old “cans” where you needed to put a plastic sheet over the lens to get the desired color. Now, we can program literally ANY color you can imagine, and the lights burn cold. (Old “can lights” would get really hot and couldn’t beleft on for hours.)
To the side, you can see how we added two green uplights to this beach-theme party to really dress it up and make it fun! Below this blog are some more picture ideas of how you can make uplights work for your event!
WEDDING PLANNING DECORATION IDEA FOR MONOGRAM LETTERS
I just wanted to share a simple wedding decoration for people looking for nice idea. Simple letters can really dress up an area for your wedding with a little decor.
All you need are some large letters, and something to dress up the area a little like diamond confetti, ribbons, or other party decorations. You can either make the letters out poster or foam board. Then to make it stand, you only need some kind of wire or stand backing, kind of like what you would see on the back of a picture frame.
WHERE CAN YOU USE THIS WEDDING IDEA, COURTESY OF YOUR ALBANY DJ?
The answer is simple, in any open flat area. Maybe for your seating place cards, for your wedding gift table, or maybe even on the floor in an open corner of your reception hall.
DJ DECORATING TIP RECORDS: A ROCKIN’ DECORATION IDEA TO JAZZ UP THE PLACE!
We just purchased a new home that has a light blue wall and a very 50’s looking tile pattern in one of the bathrooms, so we decided to enhance it with this party decoration idea.
Hanging records is really easy and not a mess at all.
HOW TO HANG RECORDS ON THE WALL FOR DECORATIVE PURPOSES:
1) Go online to eBay.com. Find and purchase a few cheap record collections. (Try multiple keyword combinations to find what you are looking for. For this experiment, we typed in “elvis record collections” + “elvis 45” + “Elvis record lot.” You may want to type in “80’s records” or “70s records” depending on the musical tastes you are trying to cater to.
2) Buy some quality poster putty. Make sure to go with name brands like Scotch or 3M, as cheaper quality may not hold, or leave a mark.
3) Apply four pencil eraser-sized small dollubs on the back of the record around the label in the “dead air” space between the music and the decal.
4) Press the record firmly to the wall. (Be careful as not to leave fingerprints on the record or label.)
HERE IS A VIDEO OF OUR RECORD WALL HANGING IDEA:
This idea is great for 50s theme parties, weddings, or even home decoration. To model this idea, we transformed the bathroom into “The King’s Throne Room: An Elvis Theme Bathroom.”
(EDITOR’S FUN FACT NOTE: Elvis died on the toilet.)
Over the weekend, I was the disc jockey for a wedding at Lillian’s in Saratoga Springs, NY just a few minutes away from the Saratoga Raceway track. Here is an idea that I thought was well done. What this bride and groom did was simple, yet elegant; they used framed pictures as centerpieces.
If you like this idea, all you have to do is find old pictures of relatives and loved ones who are no longer with us and use them as your wedding centerpiece. Probably the best way to collect the images is to talk to some of the older members of both families and see what you borrow to copy.
The pictures then become great conversation pieces for the bride and groom, as they make their rounds from table to table.
This particular couple created uniformity by adding a candle and a balloon to each centerpiece. They also added the idea to high-top standing tables to decorate the cocktail hour area and follow the theme.
Whenever I see something cool at a wedding that I am the disc jockey for, I feel the need to share. Are you looking for a fresh idea to dress up your tables at your wedding? Why not try jazzing things up with table sashes?
This new trend is an affordable way to really bring some color to your wedding reception.
I was the disc jockey at a wedding last week at The Franklin Terrace in Troy, NY and they had some really great sashes going on for their guest list of about 180 people.
Over black table clothes with dark pink napkin accents, their white table scarfs had black Oriental print running right down the center. This idea can really make your colors pop!
