I just did a holiday party for the first time at The Ballston Town Hall Community Room, in Ballston Spa, NY. I figured I would leave a little review on it for people in this area.
Off of 323 Charlton Road, the community room seems to be a great option for wedding rehearsal parties, bridal showers, or maybe like a sweet 16 or graduation party.
There is comfortable seating for about 125 people with room for dancing. There is a full kitchen set off to the side with a serving window into the room. And there are two access ramps in the back of the room for easy set up. Here is the contact information:

Have you heard of the new smash dance hit “What does The Fox Say?” by Ylvis? Well, if you haven’t yet, the kids last week at Troy Middle School certainly have! Here is a video confirming it, after about 50 kids all asked for the same outlandish tune.
Yes, the above video is just a quick funny shot of some kids at the Troy Middle School dance getting ready to learn “what the fox says” i.e. Ylvis style! If you are still with me and have no idea what I am talking about here is the original video, “What Does The Fox Say?” by Ylvis.
Out of Saratoga Springs, NY, Kaged Kombat is an up-and-coming MMA promotion that puts on some of the greatest matches a mixed martial arts fan could ask for. Above is a shot I took of fellow ring announcer Marty “The Party” and MMA Judge & Official “Slammin’ Dan Scroady along with the Ring Girls.
Here is an in-cage camera perspective of what it looks like in the octagon.
I ring announce (along with Marty The Party) for this promotion on occasion and we both always have a blast. The next Kaged Kombat event …

Are you and your fiance “wayyy into music” and want to really get that point out to your wedding guests? Is your wedding a music-themed wedding, perhaps, with musical notes, or maybe a 50s theme wedding? Well, if you answered “yes,” to either of these questions, then here is an idea for you!
Vinyl Record Guestbook Idea
HOW TO MAKE A VINYL RECORD WEDDING GUESTBOOK
1) Locate and secure several old vinyl records, preferably ones of artists whom you both enjoy. Garage sales, local record or thrift stores, and Ebay.com are great resources for this.
2) Label option – Create a custom round label to put in the center of the record, or leave the original artist for all to see.
3) Purchase some plate stands.
4) Display a few records on the stands with markers on a table at your reception hall entrance and your guests will do the rest.
5) Marker Selection – We recommend the silver metallic markers that you have to shake before each use for your guest to write with. They now have many different colors to choose from that can also compliment your wedding colors!
WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED…. When you are finished with your special day, you will have some great keepsakes that you can display in your home, or even hang on a wall. To learn how to best hang your records, you can read our party decoration on record hanging blog post here.
DJ DECORATING TIP RECORDS: A ROCKIN’ DECORATION IDEA TO JAZZ UP THE PLACE!
We just purchased a new home that has a light blue wall and a very 50’s looking tile pattern in one of the bathrooms, so we decided to enhance it with this party decoration idea.
Hanging records is really easy and not a mess at all.
How To Wall Hang a Record
HOW TO HANG RECORDS ON THE WALL FOR DECORATIVE PURPOSES:
1) Go online to eBay.com. Find and purchase a few cheap record collections. (Try multiple keyword combinations to find what you are looking for. For this experiment, we typed in “elvis record collections” + “elvis 45” + “Elvis record lot.” You may want to type in “80’s records” or “70s records” depending on the musical tastes you are trying to cater to.
2) Buy some quality poster putty. Make sure to go with name brands like Scotch or 3M, as cheaper quality may not hold, or leave a mark.
3) Apply four pencil eraser-sized small dollubs on the back of the record around the label in the “dead air” space between the music and the decal.
4) Press the record firmly to the wall. (Be careful as not to leave fingerprints on the record or label.)
HERE IS A VIDEO OF OUR RECORD WALL HANGING IDEA:
This idea is great for 50s theme parties, weddings, or even home decoration. To model this idea, we transformed the bathroom into “The King’s Throne Room: An Elvis Theme Bathroom.”
(EDITOR’S FUN FACT NOTE: Elvis died on the toilet.)
How to tidy up your place card table with a new twist…
Here is a neat way to assign seating at your wedding, without fumbling over dozens and dozens of cards. How about getting your dining hall organized with picture frame place cards?
Rather than putting out a card for each person with their name and table number on it, why not make a decorative table directory display informing every guest who will be seated at one particular table in the hall?
This alternative idea to the traditional wedding guest place card idea will save you and the guest from time and confusion in having to deal with a separate card being displayed and retrieved for every individual person on your guest list.
What this bride & groom did for their wedding at Woolfert’s Roost Country Club in Albany, was play close attention to the quality of the picture frame themselves. Rather than spending big bucks on pricey cardstock and printing charges, these couple went a different route. They printed them up entirely by themselves and displayed their work in super nice picture frames.
Here are some pictures I took at a wedding recently in Albany:
