A few years ago, the digital world took over the photography industry. In the meantime and in-between time, Polaroid was faced with low sales and finally decided to call it quits in 2008. The world was saddened in an instant.
However, after popular demand, they are back now back in a flash. In 2010 Polaroid came back with their new product, the 300, and that means Weddings have potential for some new fun. As a DJ, I see a lot of things and this activity was fun had by all.

Here is a neat way to celebrate the union of two good people, why not add alcohol?
Just like peanut butter and chocolate, certain things were made to be together. This is also likely true with the bride and groom. To celebrate “when to become one,” here is a nifty do-it-yourself mixed drink kit that you can totally use as a party favor.
What you do is get a mason jar that is big enough to house a can of soda. Then you add a small bottle of your favorite spirits, a straw and a customized instruction tab.
And for the younger guests that don’t have ID, they made a smores combo.

The trend for having original guest books has really taking off. I have seen wine bottles, painted canvasses, Jenga Games and thumbprint trees. This is another neat alternative to add to the list.

Out of the middle of the boons in Averill Park, NY a pretty fun group of friends gathered to celebrate their friend, Larry, for his 50th birthday.
This wasn’t a regular party, however. It was an Austin Powers theme birthday.
If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times; if you select a theme, you are going to have a blast no matter what. When you select a theme, everything comes together. The decorations pretty much assign themselves and all your guests have ideas and contribute. If you have the guts to do it, it really pays off for asuccess every time, according to my experience and what I have seen.
Selecting the movie Austin Powers for their theme and “Having a blast” is exactly what this group did at Larry’s man-cave, “Mulligan’s Pub” – a big garage with a pool table and all the trimmings
SOME COOL AUSTIN POWERS THEME IDEAS FROM THE PARTY:
1) Make sure everyone dresses up – even with the obscure characters.
2) Put out a “MOJO PUNCHBOWL” with some blue drink – using glowing ice cubes.
3) Tape up lots of colorful flower cut-outs.
4) Colorful lights are a must.
A funny point to mention – I had an Austin Powers costume that sort of looked like Elton John. I did, however, construct it so that removing a few key elements, it could transform into the Doctor Evil in jail look. I figured that with all of the guests, many would have had to come as Doctor Evil. That wasn’t the case. So about an hour in or so, I turned into my Evil self, and had a blast, myself, emceeing in full character.
It is important that guests dress the part!

No the bride wasn’t 90 years old. These are some kind words from a bride whose wedding was my first DJ gig at a really nice venue called 90 State Events in Albany.
Here are some things I took interest in, when doing a gig at The 90 State Events reception hall that I thought I would share with you, in case you are looking for a good place for a wedding in the Albany area.
THE LOOK – With 4,000 square feet of beautiful architecture and fancy 50 foot ceilings, at The 90, brides can accommodate over a 400 guest list!
THE SOUND – The acoustics are surprisingly good for a place built with so much stome! Unlike some other restored banks, this reception venue has a great sound without that gym-like echo, due to noise reduction padding and also a state of the art sound system for your cocktail hour on the mezzanine.
THE FOOD – I had a bit of pulled pork nachos as an appetizer, and some bacon-wrapped sirloin for an entree that couldn’t be beat. The 90’s on-site food service is Mazzone Catering, on of my favorites, who already has been providing the Capital District with over 30 years of experience delivering flawless weddings in Albany.
THE SPACE – As I mentioned before, the cocktail hour is above the head table and the dance floor seen in the picture on the mezzanine. There is also a room up there to hideaway the bridal party, as well as another in the back corner of the main floor. Another neat little party room place is the old-style vault, which is decorated in a must-see style you will love.
THE PARKING – I will admit, it is not easy, as no place downtown really is in Albany, but The 90 does provide valet parking to help out in this department.
